After 15 rounds of boxing you could have blindfolded Gene Fullmer with a shoelace but he retained his title with a draw decision which I saw on television and felt was the most terrible decision ever made in a championship bout.

I do not remember the year but I remember Sugar Ray was only breathing hard and had no visible marks from the fight and Gene Fullmer looked like he had been mugged and was in my opinion a very lucky person to receive a draw. I suspose the reason was that Sugar Ray was in his declining years and the judges did not want any controversy in the future but in my heart I know he was the better man that day.
