The first time I ever knew who Miss Dorothy Dandridge was when I saw "Carmen Jones". She was wonderful!! I never knew that she was ever a woman of color back then that had a lead role or was "allowed" to have such a role. Because I was hooked, I wanted to find other movies that she played and realized that there wasn't a lot. so I read about her.
Tthe best thing I loved so much about her was , her trying to be the best mother she could be. She was very devoted to her "retarded" daughter and when she had to send her away, because of her medical expenses, I was heart broken for her. Yes, she was a great actress but being a great mother is how I want to remember her.
