Perspective
Dodgers Stadium

When the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles, I was a kid and I didnt really care. But living here in Los Angeles, there was something that went on that frightened me. I was only 7 or 8 years old, and all of a sudden there was a war like you imagine between the Hatfields and McCoys.

There were rumors that the place was a slum and all sorts of diseases were being spread. the politics worked and all of a sudden people's homes were bought from under them

The property Chavez Ravine, where Dodger Stadium is located, was inhabited by Hispanic people who had lived there 50 or 60 years, maybe longer. The community was called Palo Verde. I dont know all the politics that went in to acquire this piece of property to build the stadium, but what affected me the most was watching on television the people being physically taken from their home so they could tear these homes down and build Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers, they stole that piece of property and I've never been able to forgive them.
