Mr. Gregory

Perspective

I always thought of Dick Gregory as a comedian. That was until 1972 when I mistakenly bought "Dick Gregory Live at Kent State" thinking that I was buying a comedy album. The wisdom that emanated from that two-album set profoundly affected my life and my perspective on things.

Somehow, it propelled me to higher level of thinking. I began to see events in a new light, and was often able to predict the outcome of things ;knowing that I didn't have all of the facts. I played the album over& over& over again for my friends, and when I got involved in radio, i made sure that every year around May 4th, I played that entire album on my show.

This man is a GOD-SEND! His "light side/dark side" album and his "Frankenstein" album became my major three themes for getting into a deeper spiritual level. I played them every February during Black History Month, and was not surprised by the response that I got from the community.

Soon afterwards, I noticed that colleges & universities all over New England were inviting Mr.Gregory to speak during Black History Month, and I knew that it had to do with their hearing his speeches on my programs.

I try to catch Mr. Gregory whenever he is in the area; however, I don't always know when he will be speaking in the area. I wish that I knew someone who had many of his speeches on tape ;even if I had to buy them I would, because of his brilliance.

I lucked up and bought one of his speeches from a gentleman in Philadelphia several years ago. He had taped Dick when he was on WHAT radio station on the "Mornings with Mary" program. Then recently I found a gentleman in California who had videotaped Dick speaking out there, and I bought a copy of that POWERFUL SPEECH which talked about the Rodney King incident.

So, in conclusion, I wish to thank this tireless warrior for all the good that he has done in the world; for his constant struggle to do right and be right; and for his efforts in waking up the people (those of us who want to be awake). I do wish to ask for addresses and any information where I can get his speeches/lectures past or present. Thank You
