I believe Alice Walker's books are powerful and insightful. I've read The Color Purple and Possessing The Secert of Joy and found both enjoyable. Even though they were a bit disturbing because I had never heard of the idea of genital multilation, I knew I could no longer be blind to the fact that these things DO happen. I wish I could thank Ms. Walker personally for opening my eyes to the real world
