A Role Model

Perspective

I knew very little about Dorothy Dandridge until recently when I saw the movie "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge" on HBO. I knew that she was the first Afican-American Actress to be nominated for an academy award.

I didn't realize how much of an effect she had on people until I saw interviews of people who knew her, and I never knew how good of an actress she was or how beautiful she was until I seen "Carmen Jones".

My heart breaks when I think of all of the pain, hurt, and racism she endured in her lifetime, but she was also loved by many people. I hoped to be a great actress/Singer/Dancer someday, hopefully dorothy's spirit will guide me and see me through and I just want to tell her thank you, for inspiring me to work harder in persuing me dreams.
