While it is difficult to compare boxers from different eras, Ray Robinson was so good that
almost all experts agree he was the best "pound
for pound" of all time. He fought about 200 fights including many fighters who were as fast
as Ray Leonard or Roy Jones, ie, Kid Gavilan.
Sugar Ray Leonard himself said "there's no comparison between myself and Ray Robinson.
SugarRay Robinson was the greatest." Even Muhammad Ali, who knows a few things about speed in the ring, called Robinson "the king, the master, my idol."
