I liked Armstrongs up-beat New Orleans style of jazz, his wonderful smile, and all his grace and manner. Any time I heard Louis Armstrong, Iknew it was time to have some fun. When I heard that trumpet sound, it was like Gabriel's horn calling out to my very soul.
"Oh When The Saints Go Marching In," is the song that most comes to mind when I think of Satchmo. It would make all of us kids start dancing the "Second Line." We would all dance around pretending we had umbrellas.
One song that always comes to mind is "What a Wonderful World." If you notice, he played hardly any horn throughout the entire number.
"Hello Dolly" was also a favorite of mine. Now that I am older it can sometimes make me tear up whatever I hear his wonderful sound. Armstrong was a real treasure to so many.
