While I was a student at Lewis and Clark College, Jester Hairston was invited several times to be the guest conductor for our choir group.

One of my fondest memories is watching this grand, gentle, sparkling spirit lead us as we sang his spirituals. His courage, sense of humor and respect for others were a rare gift that he shared gladly and easily.
