I am the cousin of Arthur on my fathers side. In 1994, my father James Ashe Sr. passed away from a massive heart attack. Shortly thereafter, Arthur passed away. In 1995, I was told by a team of cardioligists that if I didn't have a heart transplant within a years time, I would not be around. Well, I sponsored a walk for Arthur and my father for a local AIDS organization.
It was a thirty mile walk and for the entire walk, I honestly felt Arthur and my father's spirits walking with me. I wrote Arthur's widow Jeannie and related the incident to her. She wrote me back and since that time I continue to do fund raisers for the AIDs organizations and for the Heart Associations as well. I feel that with those two spirits with me, I will continue to keep working to help others until my own heart fails me. I hope that won't be for along time. If it is soon, I hope that I will be an inspiration to someone as Arthur and my father were to me.
I am alive today because of the need to help people as they did.
